An IDF 'Dohar Shamaym' UAV crashed today (Saturday) following a technical malfunction during an IDF operational activity in the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City.
In the footage distributed on social media, the crowd is seen gathering around the vessel after it fell.
The IDF Spokesperson's Office reported that the aircraft made an emergency landing in the northern Gaza Strip following a technical malfunction, and that there is no fear of information leaking.
The army stated that the incident is being investigated.
''Dohar Shmayim' is a UAV manufactured by Elbit Systems, intended for use by brigade commanders in the field. It integrates into the IDF's unmanned aerial vehicle array and serves as an intermediate layer - between the Air Force's medium-sized 'Zik' UAVs and the 'Robek Shmayim' UAV operated at the battalion level.
The UAV is equipped with advanced observation systems and high-resolution cameras, which enable the distinction between civilians and terrorists, the identification of various types of vehicles, and the collection of accurate intelligence in real time.
The IDF emphasizes that despite the fall in Gaza, there is no concern about exposing sensitive information or advanced technology.
