Due to the reduction of public transportation services during the "War with the Dog", and under the guidance of Minister Regev, the Ministry of Transportation decided to allow compensation to all passengers who had periodic contracts of the "monthly free" type, annual student contracts, or student contracts for the second semester of the academic year.

Eligibility will be granted starting today (Thursday, July 17) until the end of this year, and will allow passengers to choose between several compensation alternatives, depending on the type of contract they have.

Travelers with a "monthly free" contract:

  • Charging a free ride contract is the same as the original period, depending on the number of days of service reduction.
  • Discount on the purchase of a future "monthly free" contract, based on the number of days of public transportation reduction.
  • Charging a contract "accumulated value" in the amount of 70% from the relative value of the remaining validity of the contract during the days of service reduction.

Students with an annual contract or second semester:

  • Discount on the purchase of a future student contract (annual or first semester) for the academic year 2025/2026 – subject to continuing studies in the coming year.
  • Charging "accumulated value" at a rate of 70% of the relative value of the days of reduced service.
  • Discount on the purchase of a future "monthly free" contract.

Minister of Transportation and Road Safety, Brigadier General (res.) Miri Regev: "The Ministry of Transportation will not stand by when the public traveling on public transportation is harmed. The benefit we are providing today is an expression of our commitment to the citizens of Israel even in times of crisis. We will continue to act with sensitivity, fairness and transparency, to ensure fair, accessible and functioning public transportation both during routine times and in times of emergency."

Director General of the Ministry of Transport and Road Safety, Moshe Ben Zaken: "Since the outbreak of the war, we have worked not only to maintain the continuity of service, but also to ensure fair compensation for passengers who were affected by the reduction in public transportation. The refund we provide is part of Minister Regev's concept of acting in the best interests of the traveling public. We will continue to stand by the public and provide appropriate compensation."

The Ministry of Transportation sees great importance in being fair to the traveling public and maintaining the trust of users of public transportation, and works to minimize harm to passengers as much as possible, even in times of emergency.
