Against the backdrop of the lifting of the European recommendation to avoid flights to Israel and the return of international airlines to Israel: The Ministry of Transportation and the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) are completing the renewed preparations for the expected increase in passenger traffic at Ben Gurion Airport, which will reach approximately 1.5 million passengers in July and approximately 1.9 million in August.

Opening of a new inspection and check-in complex in Terminal 3: On August 14, a new, advanced concourse at Terminal 3 will be inaugurated, covering an area of approximately 3,900 square meters. The new complex includes 22 check-in stations, state-of-the-art security screening systems, and baggage drop-off.

The complex was built with an industrialized aluminum frame similar to modern terminals in Europe, allowing for full operational flexibility. Construction cost: approximately 50 million shekels.

Reopening of Terminal 1: Starting August 3, Terminal 1 will return to international operations, initially with El Al, Arkia, Israir and Georgian Airways, and later also with the low-cost company Wizz Air and other companies.

This follows the lifting of European Aviation Authority restrictions. During August, approximately 500 international flights are expected to operate at the terminal.

Lifting of European Aviation Authority flight restrictions: Minister Regev announced that after intensive diplomatic talks with senior European officials, the recommendation not to fly to Israel has been lifted. The move reopens the market for many airlines, and repositions Israel as an international aviation destination.

Investments of billions of shekels in infrastructure at Ben Gurion Airport: The Ministry of Transportation and the Israel Airports Authority are promoting a series of strategic projects at Ben Gurion Airport, including: the construction of a new interchange from the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem highway, the expansion of border inspection and control areas, the construction of a new passenger entrance gate, and the expansion of duty-free catering areas.
