Yonatan Urich, advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, published a personal and emotional post on his Twitter account this evening (Saturday night), on the occasion of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's birthday, in which he revealed his spiritual world and the deep connection he felt towards the Rebbe - even though he never had the privilege of seeing him face to face.
And so he wrote:
"How do you miss someone you haven't met?"
The night of the 3rd of Tammuz. A night when the Rebbe may have disappeared from sight - but not from the heart.
I didn't get to see the Lubavitcher Rebbe face to face, but I see him on YouTube.
I sit in front of the screen, and am drawn in. Into the gaze. Into the silence. Sometimes a smile. Into the irreplaceable truth.
I am privileged to study his talks - the word of kingdom. Words that are not only Torah, but life. That open up new paths for me in thought, and remind me of who I am, and why.
And I meet with Rabbi Or Ziv, his faithful messenger, a light in the darkness, and there, around the table, on the night of the 3rd of Tammuz, I understand how much we are all his children - especially him, who had no children of his own.
How much love there is in one person. How much responsibility he took on himself, on behalf of all of us. How much pain he bore - without being seen. And how much hope and action he instilled - in everyone he met.
I miss the Rebbe I never met. He gave me a message when I was in prison. He answered me before I went in. He prepared me. He knew how to write the right and good words.
he was with me.
He directed and touched and spoke and influenced and continues to influence Prime Minister Netanyahu like no one in the world understands. He understood. He saw into the distance. There is still much to tell and much to discover, but the time will come.
In the meantime, the candle burns and the heart yearns, and the void must be filled at every moment.
And how much is missing."
His friend Topaz Luke, one of the prime minister's advisors, responded to Orich: "My dear and beloved brother, you are emotional. The Deep State is preventing us from speaking, but not for much longer. The truth will come out."
