American lobbyist Jay Potlik tried to enlist the help of Energy and Infrastructure Minister Eli Cohen to act positively toward Qatar - and was expelled from his office when the minister discovered his ties to the emirate.
According to a report today (Thursday) by Avishai Greenzig, legal commentator for the i24 channel, as part of the investigation into the 'Catergate' affair, it emerged that the minister met with Potlik, as part of the lobbyist's activities to promote a hostage deal brokered by Qatar.
The American lobbyist tried to enlist Cohen to act in a positive way toward Qatar in order to promote a deal, and when the latter discovered his ties to Qatar, he ended the meeting and ordered him to leave his office.
Minister Eli Cohen said: "Ariel Shapir (author of 'Perception') came to the ministry several months ago along with Potlik, requesting to meet with the minister on the subject of the abductees. When the minister learned that Potlik represented Qatar, he refused to meet with him.".
