The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court ruled, in the absence of a defense, that an Arab who attacked attorney Nati Rom of Mehonu four years ago, in front of his family in Jerusalem, will compensate him in the amount of 80,000 shekels.
The attacker was arrested after the incident and sentenced to a suspended sentence and payment of compensation. After the attacker's conviction, a civil lawsuit was filed against him by attorney Haim Bleicher of Mhonenu.
In the lawsuit, Attorney Bleicher describes the incident: "On March 17, 21, on Yohanan Ben Hyrkanos Street in Jerusalem, the plaintiff stopped on the side of the road at a place marked for unloading and loading, and dropped off his wife and six children. The vehicle remained stationary and the plaintiff's intention was to continue driving immediately. While the plaintiff's family was getting out of the vehicle, the defendant began to shout at him and curse at him without any prior recognition.

""The plaintiff took out his mobile device to record what was happening. The defendant grabbed the mobile device from the plaintiff and pushed the plaintiff. At this point, another person joined the defendant and both cursed at the plaintiff. During the attack, a vehicle drove towards the plaintiff and almost hit him. Several long minutes passed before the phone was returned to the plaintiff.
""During the entire attack, the plaintiff's family, his wife and children, are present nearby and see their father being attacked with threats, curses, shouting and pushing.".
Adv. Rom: "I welcome the important ruling and call on everyone who was attacked on a nationalistic basis to file lawsuits against the attackers. The value of such a lawsuit is not only on the private level, but also as a general deterrent against the terrorist population in the State of Israel in general and in Jerusalem in particular. These lawsuits have the power to restore security to the streets of Jerusalem.".
Attorney Bleicher: "There are Islamic rioters for whom attacking and harming Jews at every opportunity is a way of life and a worldview. We will work to exact a heavy price from those rioters for their actions because it is about the security of all of us.".
