Tomorrow (Tuesday) a conference will be held in the Knesset under the title "The Israel-Egypt Border: A Changing Security Reality" - a critical discussion on Israel's preparedness in the south.
The conference, which will be held in the Negev Hall in the Mishkan, is the result of collaboration between MK Idan Roll and MK Limor Son Har Melech, who will chair it.
This is a surprising combination, as Roll, who served as a MK for the Yesh Atid party and today heads an independent faction called the National Majority, is a member of the Knesset for Sun Har Melech, a MK from Itamar Ben-Gvir's Otzma Yehudit party.
In the invitation, the two wrote: "We would be happy to see you with us for an important strategic dialogue about the future of our security on the southern border.".
The conference will discuss the following questions:
• The Egyptian army is arming itself and expanding its deployment of forces in Sinai - how does this affect Israeli security?
• Smuggling, diplomatic relations, regional stability – what is needed to change our preparedness?
• Senior officials from the defense establishment, research institutes, reporters, and experts will discuss critical developments and the necessary preparations.
Roll resigned from the Yesh Atid party in January - explaining: "The October 7th was a double wake-up call for us." After his resignation, he founded a new faction.
