A missile launched from Yemen landed last night in the Sharm el-Sheikh area in Egypt, about 200 kilometers from the city of Eilat.
According to a report this morning (Sunday) by Doron Kadosh on IDF Radio, Israel is investigating the possibility that the missile was aimed at Israeli territory, but at this stage they are unable to confirm the possibility with certainty.
The report comes against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump's decision yesterday to launch a broad operation against the Houthis. The attacks continued throughout the night, and according to reports, dozens of attacks were recorded in the provinces of Sana'a, Saada and Abr, and in the morning, another American attack was reported against Houthi targets in the province of Taiz in Yemen.
According to senior US officials, the airstrikes on the Houthi weapons arsenal, most of which is held and hidden deep underground, may last for days and even intensify depending on the terrorist regime's response.
The Houthis reported the deaths of 31 people. However, according to estimates in Arab media, the numbers are higher.
According to a report on Channel 12, an Israeli official this morning commented for the first time on the extensive US attack against the Houthis, saying that Israel was informed in advance of the operation.
According to him, Israel expects Houthi launches towards the country's territory, but in the meantime, the guidelines are not changing: "We are prepared at all times.".
""It was a matter of time. Defense Minister Israel Katz and US Secretary of Defense Pete Hasegawa discussed this in their talks," the same source said. "There is a joint attempt by the US and its allies to eliminate Houthi leaders, currently without success because they are well hidden.".
The source added: "There is constant, even real-time, intelligence sharing between Israel and the US, and between the US and the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Israel is closely monitoring what is happening in Yemen and checking if an opportunity arises for our own attack. Right now the US is covering all existing targets, so there is no room for intervention.".
A senior Houthi official threatened on the Qatari Al-Arabi channel: "The response to American aggression will be painful and deterrent. The US will not achieve any goal from its aggression. The Trump administration is trying to take revenge on Tehran by claiming that Sanaa is an Iranian protectorate, our decision is independent.".
According to a report published this morning in the Wall Street Journal, the three goals of the American operation in Yemen are to hit the missile launchers positioned in the direction of the shipping lanes, to hit the Houthi leadership, which is currently trying to hide, and to send a message to Iran that it may be next.
After the widespread attacks, the Houthi political bureau said: "The aggression will not deter Yemen from continuing to support the Palestinians and fulfilling its obligations in supporting Gaza. It will not go without a response, and our forces are prepared to deal with an escalation that will be met with escalation.".
