Disciplinary incident in Gaza: The IDF has suspended several reservists and their platoon commander serving in the buffer zone in the Gaza Strip, after they filmed themselves firing towards the Gaza Strip, for no reason, in violation of opening fire procedures and military discipline.
The incident occurred during the reading of the scroll. When the reader said the name "Haman," the fighters opened fire in the direction of the Gaza Strip.
The soldier who read the scroll was in a position exposed to the strip, and contrary to orders, he wore only a shirt and a clown's hat - instead of a helmet and a bulletproof vest as required in the earthen ramparts around the outposts.
The reserve soldiers posted the video on social media with their faces visible, in a way that puts them at risk under international law and exposes them to criminal proceedings.
When the commanders learned of the incident, it was decided to remove the platoon commander and his fighters from the Gaza Strip and deal with them disciplinaryally.
An IDF spokesperson said: "The behavior of the soldiers in the video is contrary to IDF values and operational procedures.".
IDF officials said the incident "illustrates a breakdown of military discipline and disregard for procedures and opening fire orders.""
