At a "Purim banquet" held last night at the home of ultra-Orthodox strategist Yossi Rosenbaum, Defense Minister Yisrael Katz was heard saying: "The Jewish Torah world can never be harmed.".
He added that he intends to pass the conscription law.
The Defense Minister also did not seem to take the song "In Their Offices We Do Not Appear" at the wedding of the daughter of the head of the Ateret Shlomo institutions too seriously.
In his speech at the "Banquet," the minister praised singer Aharle Samet, who starred in the video: "It's hard to compete with this song.".
The Defense Minister's office responded: "The Defense Minister did not know the singer and did not link him to the song, the content of which he strongly opposes. Any attempt to link the Defense Minister to the song and its content is distorted and inappropriate.".
It was also stated: "The Minister of Defense is working to promote a draft law by consent that will result in significant service by Haredim in the IDF, in contrast to the current situation, and has clearly stated that the law will include two central principles on which he will not compromise: significant service by Haredim in the IDF, alongside preserving and preventing harm to the Jewish Torah world, which is the basis for our existence here as a Jewish state.".
Transportation Minister Miri Regev, who also attended the "banquet," said: "Ahrala, based on the energies here, you should all enlist in the IDF.".
