Rabbi Yaakov Israel Ifergan, known as "The X-Ray," and his wife Ruhama Naomi Ifergan will pay 19.3 million shekels to their creditors within three months - following debts totaling approximately 41 million shekels.
According to a report by Little Dubrovitzky on Ynet, Judge Yaron Pensh of the Beer Sheva Magistrate's Court approved the creditor arrangement proposed by the rabbi and his wife: "The arrangement administrator submitted a detailed report, which shows that both creditors agreed to the outline. I approve the arrangement with all its terms.".
According to the arrangement, the radiologist and his wife, who owe the Income Tax 39.8 million shekels, will pay 18.7 million shekels to the Income Tax and 540,000 shekels to National Insurance, to which they owe 1.2 million shekels.
According to the Ynet report, the couple filed a petition with the court a few months ago to approve a debt settlement outside the framework of an order to open proceedings, so that it is not an insolvency proceeding. According to the petition filed at the time, the couple and the main creditor, the Income Tax, reached an understanding, which was approved today.
According to the Ifergan couple, the circumstances of their entanglement stem from the ruling issued by the Tel Aviv District Court in 2021, which determined that his income, which at the time amounted to approximately 30 million shekels, is taxable.
The court ruled that the 'X-ray''s income comes from blessings and advice, and therefore this money is taxable.
In light of the ruling, the debt was also created for National Insurance.
