Tragedy in Chabad Hasidism: Miri Levi, wife of Rabbi Ronen Levi, a Chabad follower in the city of Katzrin, aged 40, was killed (Monday) in a fatal accident following a collision between a car and horses on Highway 808, near Aniam in the central Golan Heights. The Katzrin Religious Council issued a statement of mourning, which stated: "The Religious Council shares the deep sorrow of the Levy family on the passing of their dear mother, Miri. Miri was a beloved and respected figure in the city's Chabad community, always radiating warmth, love and values of giving. Her passing is not only a private pain for the family, but a felt loss for the entire Katzrin community. "The family wishes to inform you that the funeral will take place today at 3:00 PM at the Katzrin cemetery. The family will sit in the funeral home at 6 Ginosar Street. We strengthen the hands of the family at this difficult time and ask the Holy One, blessed be He, to comfort them among the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem, and not to add to their grief." The deceased, may God bless her, left behind five orphans. "She raised an exemplary family, with great devotion," says one of her friends. "A few years ago, her parents passed away, in their prime, due to illness. She has supported the entire family with courage and strength since then." The Ynet website reported that, according to the police's initial suspicion, the driver apparently spotted another vehicle colliding with horses, swerved off the road to avoid hitting them - and skidded into the nearby wadi. The first report of the accident was received by MDA's 101 hotline at 8:30 p.m. - but about 45 minutes later, another report was received about the woman's vehicle, which was located about 200 meters from the scene. Initially, MDA reported about a vehicle that had collided with horses on Route 808, and that a 36-year-old man who was moderately injured was being taken to the North Medical Hospital, suffering from injuries to his limbs and head. Later, at 9:16 p.m., MDA reported about another vehicle that had collided with horses: CPR efforts performed on a 40-year-old woman who was injured were unsuccessful, and the medical team had no choice but to declare her dead at the scene. Paramedics Netanel Azulay and Eitan Shamshovitz, along with emergency medical technician Rafael Diamant, said: "We saw the driver of the vehicle unconscious and suffering from severe multi-system trauma, with no pulse and no breathing. We quickly removed her safely from the vehicle and began performing advanced CPR, along with providing medical treatment - but we had to declare her dead at the scene." Fire and Rescue spokespeople noted that "these are two different accidents, very close together, involving horses that apparently crossed the road." The police said last night that "a report was received at the police hotline about a road accident on Highway 808, near the settlement of Aniam in the Golan, involving two vehicles and a horse. As a result of the accident, one person was injured in moderate condition and another woman is currently being treated at the scene in critical condition. "Police officers and Israel Police traffic accident investigators are currently at the scene, investigating the circumstances of the accident and directing traffic in the area.".
