In a speech he gave this evening (Wednesday) at the annual economic conference of the Association of Local Authority Treasurers, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that he expects tax cuts.
Minister of Finance: "As long as the economic data continues to behave as it did in 2024 and as we predict the graph for 2025 - then I very much hope that 2026 will even be a year of tax cuts.".
He added: "I don't want to go into details, in my opinion this is what is right for the economy, to create a growth path, we will have to lower taxes. In that sense, the parliamentary efficiency measures are not bad, we have become more efficient, Grosso Modo has increased by 50 billion shekels, not everything goes to security and the army.".
""God willing, we will have a reserve that I am sure we will be able to return to the public. I am convinced that this will help us drive growth significantly.".
The chairman of the Association of Local Authority Treasurers, CPA Aryeh Bardugo, said: "After a year and a half of war and a year since the local elections, the authorities need growth, hope and continuity. Our mission now, as financial managers, is to rehabilitate the north and the south as quickly as possible and lead the authorities to significant economic development - for the benefit of the residents, whose emissaries we are.".
