The 'Tiferet Zakenim – Levi Yitzhak' kollel network continues to develop: Recently, two new kollels were established - one in Kiryat Shmuel and the other in Kiryat Yam.

The kollels were established by the Lubavitcher Rebbe zt"l in memory of his father, the Kabbalist Rabbi Levi Yitzhak zt"l, and are attended by elderly Jews of golden age. The new kollels in the north were opened in cooperation and coordination with Chabad's chief emissary to the Kiryat Shmona, Rabbi Moshe Oirchman.

In Kiryat Shmuel, the kollel opened with an emotional ceremony at the Ashkenazi synagogue in Kiryat Shmuel B (the Romans). The event attracted dozens of residents of Haifa and the Kiryat Shmuel area, who took part.

The moderator briefly reviewed the Lubavitcher Rebbe's request to establish kollels for pensioners, and that the Rebbe sent 100 shekels to each kollel that was opened, and to kollels that bore the name of the Rebbe's father, 'Tiferet Zakenim Levi Yitzhak', he sent 100 shekels. He also mentioned the Rebbe's instructions on opening kollels.

Among the dignitaries who stood out in their presence was Rabbi David Meir Druckman, the rabbi of Kiryat Motzkin, who emphasized the centrality of Torah study in human life, especially in this era. He also marveled at the great privilege of Jews who are free from their work to study Torah in a regular setting every day.

The moderator noted that the Rebbe sought the involvement of local rabbis in establishing and supporting the kollel, and invited the Gaon Rabbi Zalman Shmuel Harami, head of the kollel and the 'Yeshiva Harama in Krayot', and the rabbis of the Lithuanian community. The Rabbi spoke about the great importance of Jews of this age, who sit and study every day.

Rabbi Yosef Schechter, the Rebbe's emissary and initiator of the opening of the kollel, expanded on the words of the Mishnah in Tractate Kinim about the elderly scholars who, as they grow older, become more mindful of them. In addition, Rabbi Schechter presented the kollel's study program, which includes daily lessons in Gemara, Ein Yaakov, and the weekly parashah in the light of Hasidism, led by the scholastic scholastics, Rabbi Yosef Alkobi, one of the most prominent scholastics in the kollel by the Yeshiva Harama, and Rabbi Yishai Aviezer, one of the veteran scholastic scholastics in Kiryat Shmuel.

The host thanked the synagogue's treasurers, Rabbi Yossi Beck and Rabbi Shabtai Albin, for their help and participation in the opening of the kollel. A special blessing of thanks was also extended to the kollel's president, Rabbi Yehoshua Halevi Leviev, for his support of the project.

New kollel – also in Kiryat Yam

The Torah revolution in the north continues, and Kiryat Yam has also been blessed with a new kollel. The kollel is led by the Shliach Rabbi Moshe Bistritzky, an outstanding scholar who combines wisdom, extensive experience, and endless dedication to the cultivation of Torah in his leadership. Alongside him is the Shliach Rabbi Mendi Varzov, who enriches the students with his in-depth lessons.

""The goal of the kollel is to produce excellent rabbinical scholars who study their Talmud with perseverance and dedication, and to spread the light of Torah among the residents of the entire region," the kollel's publications state.

And this is the curriculum: in-depth study of Shas and poskim, high-level general lessons, practical preparation for teaching, enrichment in Hasidism and Jewish thought.

The momentum in the network of kollels, "Tiferet Zakenim Levi Yitzhak," is the result of cooperation between the Chabad kollel and Hasidic leader Levi Leviev, within the framework of which many new branches have been opened throughout the country in the past year.

""The establishment of the new branch constitutes another pillar in the dissemination of Torah and Hasidism in the cities of the Holy Land, and allows the pensioners a high-quality and enriching study environment in the morning hours," said the director of 'Kollel Chabad', Rabbi Shalom Duchman.
