Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the situation in the north today (Tuesday) at a special government meeting held in the city of Nahariya.
Netanyahu said: "We are holding a government meeting in the north, here in the city of Nahariya. We come here to deliver a clear message to the north: We are committed to the north, we appreciate the steadfast stance of the residents, of the leaders; we are committed to returning the residents safely to their homes.".
The Prime Minister added: "We are committed to returning the North to what it was - and even more than that. We want a bustling, vibrant North, with the restoration of the settlements, with industry, with tourism, and even beyond what it was. To this end, the government is now formulating, and will soon submit, a comprehensive systemic plan for the North, and from within it also a plan for the city of Nahariya.".
""Mr. Mayor, I want to thank you for your leadership, for your leadership and for the steadfast stand of the residents. It was not easy. There were many challenges, including four people who were killed here in the city of Nahariya. We very, very much appreciate your steadfast stand. We are coming today with several decisions for the city of Nahariya, which include, among other things, preserving tax benefits - which is a very important thing, developing industrial zones that we want to promote, and also promoting the construction of the dock. The construction of the dock and everything we do here expresses our security.
""We will restore peace and security to the north, and we are doing this because of the firm stand I mentioned earlier, the national resilience demonstrated by the residents of the north, and this allowed us to navigate the war in a firm and informed manner and bring about very great achievements on the battlefield.".
Netanyahu continued his remarks: "Right now we are in a ceasefire, I note - a ceasefire, not the end of the war. We have a clear goal to return the residents, to rehabilitate the north. We are enforcing this ceasefire with an iron fist, acting against any violation - minor or serious. Yesterday there was a serious violation, and in response we attacked over 20 targets and objectives throughout Lebanon. We are committed to a ceasefire, but we will not tolerate ceasefire violations by the other side either.".
""I also say here in the clearest possible terms: We will not return to the situation that was on October 6th. No drips, no slurps, no nothing. The North will be quiet, the North will prosper, the North will flourish, and the North will be safe.".

""We will not return to the situation that was on October 6th - neither drips nor drips. Thank you to President Trump for his strong statement yesterday on the issue of the hostages.""https://t.co/H8vCqVujeH pic.twitter.com/scK4qpeN53— Prime Minister of Israel (@IsraeliPM_heb) December 3, 2024
""Yesterday we learned of the fall of Captain Omar Nowra, the late armor officer, hero of the army. Omar was a very moral young man, blessed with talents, a Zionist in every sense of the word. He immigrated to Israel to enlist in the IDF, chose a combat path, chose to command and lead, and that is exactly what he did at the outbreak of the war on October 7. He led his soldiers to defend the surrounding settlements. He fought until he fell. On behalf of the entire government and the citizens of Israel, I send my deepest condolences to the family and share in their heavy grief. May the memory of Omar Nowra be blessed. We will not rest or be silent until we return all of our captives - the dead and the living alike.".
Netanyahu addressed the threat issued by President Trump yesterday: "In this matter, I want to thank President Trump for his strong statement yesterday. It is a very strong statement, which makes it clear that there is one person responsible for this situation - and that is Hamas. Hamas is required to release the hostages. President Trump put the emphasis in the right place - on Hamas, and not on the Israeli government, as is customary in our places.".
Netanyahu emphasized: "We will continue to do everything to release them, and whoever harms them - blood will be on their heads. President Trump also said this yesterday, and this adds validity to this statement. Whoever harms our hostages will have blood on their heads, and we have already proven that we are fulfilling this order and we will not relent. We will return all our hostages.".
Nahariya Mayor Ronen Marli told the ministers: "Thank you very much for being here. Prime Minister, this is an unequivocal statement regarding the city of Nahariya and the north in general. We congratulate you. We are happy and proud that you are here. The city of Nahariya loves you. The city of Nahariya thinks that you are leading a campaign that is complex, it is not simple at all, on seven fronts, but you are doing it in a responsible, very considered, matter-of-fact, powerful manner. We are currently experiencing days of calm here, and we have been waiting for this.".
