The assassin, who was killed along with his wife, son, and daughter in an attack on their home, is described as a Hamas commander in Lebanon and a member of the organization's leadership abroad.
Abu al-Amin was a senior figure in the movement, who also served as chairman of the UNRWA Teachers' Association in Lebanon.
Hamas wrote that he stood out in his work in the field of education, being "a successful teacher and a respected administrator who trained generations of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon," without this preventing him from "building a generation that carries the just issue on its shoulders without retreating."
The Lebanese Teachers' Union also issued a statement following his assassination, writing that he "died a martyr in support of the just Palestinian cause for which he lived." The professional organization added: "We pledge to our heroic martyr that we will uphold the covenant and continue on his path."
