Yaakov Wider, a member of the Bnei Brak City Council, submitted an urgent question to Mayor Hanoch Seibert, under the title: "Fear of corruption in the appointments of associates and family members.".

In his explanatory remarks, Vider notes that he is sending his letter after "very worrying information I received from employees in the mayor's office and the deputy mayor's office" - and explains that it is the duty of a council member "to protect the residents of Bnei Brak, prevent the plunder of public funds and ensure that public money is used by the public and not by a small, greedy handful of businessmen.".

In the query, to which the mayor is obliged to respond in detail, Vider demands to know, among other things, how many municipal employees were appointed as 'neighborhood rabbis', who appointed them - and whether tenders were held on the matter.

He also demands to know whether there are family members of current or former municipal officials among them, as well as political activists close to municipal officials.

Wieder adds and demands to know what the total cost of all these 'workers' is and why all information on the matter is 'obsessively' hidden from the public, as he puts it.

Wieder warns Mayor Seibert that he demands, on behalf of the residents, "to receive clear answers to the question," and that "failure to provide the truth on the matter will constitute a serious criminal offense.".

It should be noted that it was recently reported in Haredim 10 that Yaha is investigating the allegations of corruption and embezzlement in the Bnei Brak municipality.
