An illegal resident was arrested when she tried to smuggle four additional illegal residents into Israel through the 'A-Za'im' crossing in the West Bank using her vehicle.

The smuggling was carried out by attempting to disguise the vehicle - when Border Police officers who decided to stop the vehicle for inspection noticed that a yellow kidnap ribbon was tied to the vehicle's mirror and inside it hung a fragrant tree in the shape of the Israeli flag.

After the fighters inspected the vehicle, Israeli flags, a wig, and a kippah were found.

When inspecting the vehicle, the fighters found that the suspect driver was a resident of Judea and Samaria, without a permit to be in Israel. In addition, the fighters located another illegal resident and Palestinian license plates in the trunk of the vehicle.

After checking the systems, it became clear that the vehicle's original Palestinian license plates had been replaced with stolen Israeli license plates from a vehicle that had gone off the road.

The five illegal residents were arrested and, along with the vehicle, were transferred for further investigation to the Investigations and Intelligence Division of the Jerusalem Border Police.

Yesterday, the police filed an indictment against the four defendants who tried to enter Israel, for attempting to enter or reside in Israel illegally.

In addition, the arrest of the driver, who is also an illegal resident, was extended until Sunday.
