According to the data, six children were killed in traffic accidents in Jerusalem in 2023, and it leads by a significant margin - much more than its relative share of the population, compared to other cities in Israel.
The next cities in the ranking are Modiin Illit and Rahat, where 2 children aged 0 to 14 were killed last year. In Tel Aviv - 0 deaths. In Haifa - 0 deaths. Of the large cities - only in Be'er Sheva and Netanya were recorded children killed in traffic accidents during 2023 - one child in each city.
The data also shows that during 2023, 79 children aged 0-14 were injured in road accidents in Jerusalem. First place again, by a considerable margin - more than three times as many as were injured in Tel Aviv - 24 children, and almost four times as many as in Haifa - 20 children.
Green Light also examined the data over the past decade in terms of child injuries in traffic accidents within cities.
In this test, Jerusalem also leads the ranking by a significant margin: 22 children were killed within the city limits in the last decade (2014-2023), out of 729 children who were injured in accidents, 226 of them seriously.
Second in the ranking in terms of casualties is the city of Bnei Brak, where 427 children were injured in the past decade, of whom 1 was killed. In Tel Aviv - 326 children were injured in the past decade, including 4 fatalities. In Haifa, 227 children were injured in accidents in the past decade - including 2 fatalities.
