During Shabbat, a report was received at the police hotline 100 about an attack on a security officer at a hotel in Jerusalem. Police officers from the Shalem police station who quickly arrived at the scene identified the suspects in the act.

When the suspects noticed the police, they tried to flee the scene, but after a short foot chase, the suspects were caught while resisting arrest.
One of the suspects held an object in his hand and, while attempting to take control of it, hit one of the police officers in the head and body with the object, injuring him.
Additional police officers were called to the scene and arrested the two suspects, residents of Bnei Brak, in their 20s.
An initial investigation at the Shalem station indicates that the two were apparently in a car accident, and at some point attacked the hotel security guard where they were staying.
The KBAT called in the police forces to assist in removing them, so they also attacked the police officers. The police officers who were injured in the attack completed the arrest, and then were evacuated for medical treatment.
This morning, the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court extended the detention of the two suspects until Tuesday.
The police investigation is ongoing.
