Israel Meir is a political and media consultant, but now he surprises with a performance of the song "Angels of Mercy," which he chose to record against the backdrop of the harsh war.
He said: "Since the terrible massacre on Simchat Torah and the difficult war that followed, I have found myself repeatedly returning to this old tune composed by Rabbi Pinky Weber ("Tefila Le'ani", "Rachem" and more) nearly thirty years ago.".
The piyyut "Mala'achei Rah'amim" was composed by the poet Rabbi Shmuel HaCohen in the year 5555 - 928 years ago. Shortly after composing the piyyut, Rabbi Shmuel was murdered during the Crusades.
Meir shared: "In the original version - the 'Matikus' album produced by Rabbi Yosef Moshe Kahane, 'Mala'chi Rachamim' is sung in a Hasidic pronunciation. In recent months, I have been grateful for this melody that accompanies me during the difficult period we are going through. Perhaps it could be useful if I recorded this song not just for the shelf.".
