Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists who were arrested and interrogated by Unit 504's facility investigators once again revealed the way in which Hamas uses civilians in the Gaza Strip and their living environment for terrorist purposes.
Islamic Jihad terrorist Muhammad Darwish Amara told his interrogation about a Hamas man who planted an explosive device near a building. When a man living in the building asked him to go somewhere else because he feared for the safety of his children, the terrorist replied: "None of your business, I will even put it between you and your wife" - and then shot him in the leg.
Amara said that Hamas members "come and take over the apartment. A sniper was sitting by the window, there were more than 20 of them there. Not with my permission.".
He also described how he asked a Hamas man not to fire rockets from the land near his house, but the terrorist replied: "This is my land and I am not going.".
Amara said he chose the location perhaps because it was hidden between the houses.
Zohadi Ali Zohadi Shahi, who served as a terrorist in the Hamas terrorist organization, said in his interrogation: "I once fought with an operative, and I told him, 'Your place is not here with the civilians above, but below, why did you leave?' He didn't answer, he only threatened that when the war was over he would punish me. He was a Hamas operative, you can see him, he told me, 'Wherever I step, I enter without accounting to anyone.'".
Shahi added that he hopes that IDF soldiers will remain in the Strip: "If IDF forces had remained in Al-Fa'a, we would not have died of hunger, at least, we would not have died of hunger, we would have eaten and drunk and lived our lives. As soon as the IDF entered the hospital, we were afraid and wondered what the army would do to us. Our fears were in vain, the IDF forces brought us food and water and sat with us, we felt safe.".
