According to a report by Shirit Avitan Cohen in Israel Hayom, the meeting, which was kept secret, dealt with how to lead the decision made by the Accountant General and intended to cut the budget of tens of millions from the regional councils in Judea and Samaria, with the ministry headed by the chairman of Religious Zionism, Bezalel Smotrich - and the fear that he would express opposition to the move.
This is a budget that former Minister Ayelet Shaked submitted to the authorities, and now the Ministry of Finance is seeking to cancel it.
This is very bad news for the authorities who were expecting these budgets this year as well and are expected to receive the news in the coming days. In addition, it should be noted that the government's decision on the Judea and Samaria issue is being delayed, which is leading to a delay in the implementation of the transfer of additional budgets to the region.
The Accountant General of the Treasury responded: "We do not intend to comment on the content of the discussion and the decisions that were made. However, it should be emphasized that the Accountant General routinely holds professional discussions on various issues, including, among other things, on the manner of regulating the debts of all local authorities, wherever they are, to the state.".
