This morning (Sunday), detectives from the Jerusalem District's Lev Habira police station arrested a suspect in causing damage and stealing mezuzahs on Independence Day night.

The suspicion is that the background is a criminal act.

The suspect tore off and stole dozens of mezuzahs from the doorposts of residential buildings in several buildings in central Jerusalem.

He was arrested following investigative actions carried out by investigators from the Lev HaBira police station - who, upon receiving the report about the case in recent days, collected evidence and findings with the assistance of the Jerusalem District Criminal Identification Police.

As part of the investigation, the police identified the suspect, an arrest warrant was issued against him in court, and various actions were taken to locate him.

The arrested suspect, a Jerusalem resident in his 40s, was taken for questioning.

The investigation continues.
