After a wave of increases in electricity prices: The Electricity Authority announced today (Sunday) its decision that electricity prices will decrease by 2.4% in a week. This is in line with the decline in coal prices worldwide, and taking into account the exchange rate and the price index.
This decrease follows the previous decrease, which was 1.5 percent.
The fare reduction will take effect from April 1, 2023.
The sharp decline in coal prices in recent months allowed for a more significant reduction in the electricity rate, but following the rise in inflation and the dollar exchange rate, the Electricity Authority decided on a reduction of only 2.4%.
The electricity rate increased by 8.2% at the beginning of the year. Following the government's plan to reduce price increases, it decreased by 1.5% in February.
After the two reductions, the electricity rate will be approximately 4.31% higher than at the end of last year.
