Finance Minister and Yisrael Beiteinu Chairman Avigdor Lieberman filed a criminal complaint against Yossi Chemisa this morning (Monday) - claiming that the minister offered him $100,000 about twenty years ago to murder a police officer.
The complaint was filed by attorneys Yaron Kostlitz and Aviad Shaulzon of the Kostlitz law firm on behalf of Minister Lieberman and the Yisrael Beiteinu party.
Regarding Chemisa's claims, the complaint states: "To the defendant. Mr. Lieberman did not approach the defendant and offer him any sum of money to murder anyone. This is a figment of the defendant's feverish imagination.".
It also states: "The statements quoted above (claims as a mass) are defamatory, completely false statements, which were published with the intention of harming the complainants, when the political system is in the midst of an election campaign.".
Response from Attorney Eyal Baserglik, who represents Yossi Chemisa: "This is a Praxalens silencing lawsuit, designed to terrorize a witness who dared to tell the truth. The lawsuit is reminiscent of a dark Bolshevik regime. I suggest that the prosecutor, Mr. Lieberman, focus on responding to the difficult claims instead of silencing them and the issue that is now being examined by the Attorney General, which is not a place for a criminal complaint anyway, and additional issues will be fully revealed to the public, and that the public judge who is telling the truth.".
Kamisa claimed in an interview with Ayla Hasson on Channel 13 on Friday that about 20 years ago he allegedly heard from Lieberman that he was aiming to eliminate the head of the police investigation department at the time, Sando Mazor. According to Kamisa, Lieberman told him that he was "ready to pay a hundred thousand dollars to murder the chief.".
Kamisa rejected the claims that the person behind him now is Netanyahu, who is seeking to politically harm Lieberman and Yisrael Beiteinu.
In an interview with Gali Israel radio, Kamisa said: ‘I would be happy for Lieberman to file a defamation lawsuit against me, I would be happy. At this point, everything will come out and a very serious indictment will be filed against Lieberman regarding the Congo story. It's not about a hundred shekels, it's about a lot of money. I'm not afraid that he will come to court. There are documents, I gave them to the Israel Police at the time.
“"I didn't come to the police sergeant and tell him, I'm talking to you about a senior officer, the head of the investigations department. We're talking here about the person who I think had and still has the most power in the country.".
