Tami Livni Tzur, 37, from Zichron Yaakov, was 37 weeks into her third pregnancy when she suddenly began to feel severe abdominal pain. She lay down on the couch to rest, hoping it would go away, but the pain intensified, accompanied by dizziness and a cold sweat, and she lost consciousness for a few moments.

Her husband, Meir, immediately called an ambulance that took her straight to the maternity emergency room at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center.
During the ultrasound, the doctors diagnosed a decrease in the fetal heart rate and decided to immediately transfer her to the operating room.
Gila Pinchas, the midwife who received her in the emergency room along with midwife Abir Ismail, recalls: "Tami arrived with severe abdominal pain, drenched in cold sweat, pale, with low blood pressure and pulse, a swollen and painful abdomen, who barely agreed to have an ultrasound. I touched her and felt that she was frozen. She was in a state of shock. I feared that it was a uterine rupture and I immediately called the medical team to the operating room.".
Within just 7 minutes of arriving at the hospital, Tami underwent an emergency cesarean section and the baby was quickly delivered with a very low heart rate. Doctors began performing CPR on him and he was transferred in stable condition to continue treatment in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Dr. Haim David, director of the maternity department and delivery rooms, who operated on Tami together with Dr. Milena Gelman, says: "When we opened the abdomen, we diagnosed a large tear that continues to bleed, along with numerous blood clots in the abdominal cavity. After extracting the fetus, we also diagnosed an embedded placenta that could not be removed, which also caused significant bleeding. Tami lost over 5 liters of blood and we had to give her 14 blood products.".
The director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Prof. Moti Halak, the director of the Department of Gynecology and Gynecological Oncology, Prof. Ilan Baruchim, and Dr. Junia Amer Alsheikh, a senior physician in the Urogynecology and Pelvic Floor Unit, were also called to the operating room, and they managed to stop the bleeding. "Tami was in a life-threatening condition. She suffered from continuous, excessive bleeding, which required us to perform a resection in order to stop the bleeding and save her life.".
The surgery was successful and Tami was hospitalized in the maternity ward. The baby, who was born weighing 2.650, was hospitalized for further treatment and observation in the hospital's neonatal unit. The two are feeling well and are expected to be discharged home in the coming days.
Tami recalls: "I started to feel a stomach ache that got worse with a feeling of dizziness and fainting. I remember the whole way refusing to have my stomach touched and only wishing I could get to the operating room to give birth. I didn't imagine that I was in a life-threatening condition. Fortunately, the medical team at Hillel Yaffe acted quickly, professionally and without hesitation and immediately got me into the operating room, rescued the baby who was in distress and saved my life. I have no words to express my gratitude for that.".
