Marine Le Pen, the candidate for the French presidency on behalf of the far-right National Union party, caused a stir in recent days when she said that if elected, she would promote a law that would ban Jewish kosher and "space" throughout France.
Cleaning for Passover: What do you know about the maintenance rules for the home gas system?
In an interview with journalist Benjamin Petrover's program on i24NEWS, which will air tonight (Sunday), she responds to the storm and returns to the original proposal: Instead of a blanket ban on kosher throughout France, they will promote a law that will allow the import of kosher and "halal" meat, but will prohibit slaughter, which she says is "inhumane" towards the animal.
""When slaughter without denaturing (the animal) is banned, of course it will be possible to import the meat, in order to respect the religious considerations of our Jewish people," says Le Pen.
""I want to assure everyone, because I understand that some people may be concerned. So I tell them again, there will of course be the ability to import meat that complies with the religious laws of our Jewish people.".
