A man in his 50s was lightly injured in a car explosion this morning (Wednesday) on Keren Kayemet LeIsrael Street in Ness Ziona, near a residential building.
The background to the incident is apparently criminal.
MDA teams provided the injured man with medical treatment and he was taken to Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot with injuries to his limbs while still conscious.
Emergency medical technician Daniel Kahalani said: "The injured man was lying in the yard of one of the buildings near the scene of the incident, conscious and suffering from injuries to his limbs. We provided him with initial medical treatment on the scene, which included stopping the bleeding, bandaging him, and administering medication. We put him in an intensive care unit and evacuated him to the hospital in stable condition.".
As can be seen in MDA's footage from the scene, the vehicle that exploded caught fire and suffered extensive damage.
In additional footage, you can see the moments of the explosion - and the driver who survived, climbing out of the vehicle and escaping the fire.
Rehovot police station officers, a police sapper, and forensic investigators arrived at the scene of the incident and began conducting scans and collecting findings to examine the background and circumstances that led to the incident.
