Prof. Tzachi Grossman, chairman of the Pediatricians' Association, told Channel 12: "We need to prepare, and that means taking the children and vaccinating them, both against the flu and against coronavirus.".
He added and warned: "If this is the load before winter, then in winter itself there will be much more load, and it is possible that the morbidity will be much higher.".
The vaccination campaign for children and girls began a week ago, and an encouraging trend is already apparent, according to the Ministry of Health: "The vaccination rate for children aged 5-11 is more than double compared to the corresponding period of time for vaccinations for boys aged 12-15.".
According to the updated health fund data, more than 56,000 children have already been vaccinated in about a week - and another 32,000 have already made an appointment. This means that nearly 90,000 5-11 year olds have already been vaccinated or are expected to be vaccinated soon: this is about 91% of the boys and girls in these age groups.
