Malka Leifer, who was accused of committing serious acts against female students while she was the principal of an ultra-Orthodox school in Melbourne, will stand trial after an Australian court ruled today (Thursday) that there is sufficient evidence against her.
Leifer - who was extradited from Israel last month - is charged with 70 counts of assault over a period of 4 years, from 2004 to 2008.
During the court hearing, Leifer appeared on a video call from inside the prison.
Before the hearing, she was charged with 74 counts, but four of them were dropped because they occurred in Israel.

She pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.
The organization 'Megan', which is supporting the victims, said: "We congratulate the justice systems in Australia for not taking their time and determining that there is an evidentiary basis in the Malka Leifer case.
""We stand by the brave complainants who refused to give up and fought for many years to bring Leifer to justice, and we are convinced that the Australian court will convict Leifer and put an end to this difficult affair.".
