Happy Holidays!

The holiday of Sukkot is one of the most special holidays of the year. It is a holiday where all the senses experience the atmosphere. The smell of the etrogs and the fresh, crisp thatch, the color green that dominates the entire space, and the colorful decorations that fill the Sukkots.

It's impossible not to love this holiday and miss it all year long.

Last year, unfortunately, due to the Corona restrictions, we were forced to celebrate each person at home.

This year, the coronavirus has not yet disappeared, but thank God we are blessed to have vaccines, with the help of which we can maintain a certain routine in our lives and enjoy the joy and happiness of the holiday.

For me, the joy of this Sukkot holiday is twofold: I get to celebrate three years, more than half a term, as mayor of Jerusalem.

These are three years in which we have together led a series of revolutions in a variety of fields. Whether it is in finding solutions for educational buildings, holding cultural events, improving service to residents, investing in nurturing, developing and promoting the city.

Over the past three years, we have established new schools for all sectors - with an emphasis on the Haredi sector, where significant shortages have accumulated in recent years. In the last month alone, with the start of the 2012 school year, dozens of new schools or those that have undergone thorough renovations were inaugurated.

In addition, we carried out comprehensive renovations in schools that had not been renovated for many years. We established kindergartens, Torah studies, yeshivas and seminars, and hundreds of new classrooms without the evil eye.

Next year, too, with God's help, we will continue to lead Jerusalem in giant strides in all areas. In education, service to residents, culture, improving the face of the city - and all out of immense love for the city and its residents.

Happy New Year and Happy holidays!

Moshe Leon, Mayor of Jerusalem
