Many Israelis are still afraid Buy online: 63% of them are afraid that products they order on international websites simply will not arrive, and 60% are afraid that their credit details will be posted online and stolen - this is according tosurvey Internationally conducted PayPalAmong 15,000 people aged 18-64 in 15 countries.

The fear that an order from abroad will not arrive characterizes Israelis more than other surfers around the world, and they are also troubled by other issues: more than half say that there is no guarantee of the quality of the products, and a similar proportion (55%) fear fraud.

However, loyalty to blue-and-white shopping is very low - only 151% of Israelis prefer to shop on Israeli shopping sites over foreign ones. In contrast, about a third of consumers in the UK, Canada, Turkey and Australia prefer to buy products on local sites rather than have them shipped internationally.

36% Israelis say that one of the things that bothers them the most is shopping on sites that only reveal additional costs, such as shipping fees or various taxes, to the surfer at the last minute before payment. 30% of them are bothered by sites that require them to register with a username and password before purchasing each time, which complicates the robust process of online shopping. For them, it is a waste of time and something that detracts from the online shopping experience.

Although more and more Israelis have switched to online shopping, the gap between the time they spend in physical stores and online stores is large. According to the survey, the average Israeli spends 302 minutes a week in a physical store, compared to 180 minutes shopping online - a gap of 122 hours. In the UK, where online shopping is much more advanced, the gap is only 22 hours.

China, by the way, is the only country among the top 15 countries surveyed where surfers spend more time shopping online than in physical stores - with a gap of 9 hours per week in favor of the Internet.

However, it should be taken into account that wandering around a store can sometimes distract the buyer from the purpose for which they came, while online usage is more focused. This is, incidentally, the reason why quite a few chains and physical stores try to avoid promoting online sales on their websites, so as not to harm the shopping experience in the physical store or to impulsively purchase products that were not planned in advance.
