Herzog appointed Chief of Staff Eyal Shweki as Director General of the President's Office

He followed him even in the desert: President-elect Yitzhak Herzog decided last night (Sunday) to appoint his chief of staff, Eyal Shweki, as director general of the President's Office.

The appointment will be submitted today for approval by the Knesset Finance Committee.

Schweiky has been accompanying Herzog for about 15 years.

He served as his spokesman in his various positions and was his chief of staff when Herzog was chairman of the Zionist Camp and chairman of the opposition.

Herzog was elected this month as the 11th president of the state, receiving the support of 87 members of Knesset - an all-time record.

He will enter the President's Office on July 7 - the 27th of Tammuz.
