Gerdy was caught in his vehicle in the Wadi Joz neighborhood, brutally beaten by a mob of angry Arabs, who beat him with helmets, punched him, and kicked him in the head and all parts of his body, while he lay helpless on the road.

The rioters then set his vehicle on fire and it burned completely.

Yahya spoke today about what happened and told 'Kan News': "I was standing in traffic, I got stones, they broke the windows, once again, they beat me. They came to me and wanted to kill me there. I thought I was going to die. I was all weak. They wanted to stab me with a knife. I thought I wasn't going home anymore and I was dying.".

The injured person was taken to Hadassah Hospital on Mount Scopus.

Yossi Mualem from United Hatzalah, who treated him, told Here News: "We went there with an ambulance and received a guy bruised all over his body.

""The sight was not pleasing to the eye at all, and I am a medic who has treated quite a few cases. He was exhausted and could barely talk to us. According to what he said, he left the vehicle behind and ran away when he felt his life was in danger. He was very confused, apparently he had been hit in the head. He said, 'I didn't do anything to them. I don't have the strength, I'm going to die.'".

He said, "There was also a considerable amount of money he left in the car.".

In light of the riots, the US Embassy in Israel issued a special statement that read: "We are concerned about the violent incidents. We hope that various parties will act responsibly, and call for an end to incitement, the restoration of order, and the preservation of the dignity and safety of all residents of Jerusalem.".
