The floor of a residential apartment collapsed today (Tuesday) on Eshtaul Street in Ramat Gan, and a hole about three meters deep opened up in the living room of the house.
Police officers who arrived at the scene evacuated the residents for fear of a general collapse of the building, and summoned the necessary professionals for examination and treatment.
""The hole has opened up in a way that endangers the residents of the place and there is a fear of a general collapse of the building," the police said. "The police have summoned the necessary professionals for examination and treatment.".
Mayor Carmel Shama-HaCohen wrote on Facebook: "Two buildings at 5 Eshtaul Street and 10 Rashi Street were declared dangerous and their residents were evacuated following a break-in in the wall of an adjacent construction project, through which the ground escaped until the floor in the ground-floor apartments collapsed.".
"Our hazardous structures engineers are already on the ground, along with welfare personnel and others who are being briefed to ensure that no one is left in danger or unresponsive as a result of the sudden loss of their roof.".
He added: "I requested a report of conclusions on whether this was an unavoidable event or negligence on the part of the company that excavated and cleared the adjacent project, Rashi 12, which is currently under construction.".
