At the time of the attack, most of the family members were at home, including a six-month-old baby, the eldest daughter's son.

The amount of compensation will be added to the compensation awarded in the criminal proceedings, so that the family will receive 60,000 shekels.

The attack took place over seven years ago, during the Yom Kippur fast of 2014. Three members of minorities threw several Molotov cocktails at the family home, which caused a fire on the balcony of the house. The balcony was severely damaged, and a wooden pergola, a water pond, yard furniture, clothing, military uniforms, and school supplies were also burned. Even greater damage could have been caused to the home and family members had it not been for the firefighting operations that were carried out.

At that time, some of the family members were at home, and according to the lawsuit filed, "felt a sense of real danger to their lives.".

Other family members returned home from Yom Kippur prayers and discovered that rescue and firefighting forces were working to stop the fire, "while they were terrified by what they saw and feared for the safety of their loved ones who remained at home.".

In a criminal proceeding, the attackers were convicted of the offenses of manufacturing weapons, arson, and attempted arson. They were sentenced to prison terms, probation, and payment of compensation to the family. After the conviction, the family members sued the attackers in civil proceedings.

In the civil lawsuit, the financial damages caused by the defendants to the family, as well as the physical and mental damages, were calculated.

""The incident constitutes childhood trauma for the children of the family and a severe trauma for the parents, especially the mother of the family, who felt great danger to herself and her children and extreme helplessness. She feared that the entire house would catch fire and her children would burn alive.".
