Minister of National Digital Affairs, Dudi Amsalem, sent a sharp letter of response this evening (Saturday night) to Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, regarding his letter to him stating that there is no obstacle to his approving the sale of the 'Walla' website.
Minister Amsalem claims in his letter: "I asked in vain and you answered me in vain. Both in the sale of Bezeq-Searchlight and now in the sale of Walla, you were asked whether my signature as regulator constitutes a financial benefit? After all, this is exactly what you claimed in Case 4000.
""Regarding the future, what if Walla publishes a positive article about me? Ohad coverage, may God have mercy on him!? I was unable to understand your principled answer. I sense from your words that a sense of cynicism emerges, but in this case the question is a principled and important question, and therefore I would like to receive a more unequivocal and clear answer from you without smears.".
Minister Amsalem continues, "In your letter you wrote that you 'guide me' - allow me to correct you, I am not your employee and you are not guiding me, you are confused about your role. Your wording reflects the status you attribute to yourself that ministers actually work for you. Your role as legal advisor to the government, as his name suggests - is to advise, not guide. I ask you to answer directly and not to be clever.".
""Since I have no interest in harming the Walla sales process, since they are not a party to the matter, I will sign the documents, but I still request and insist that you answer my questions directly, and that is precisely your main role as Attorney General, to respond to the relevant and important inquiries of government ministers.".
