Former Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot was surprised to hear the announcement by Telem Party Chairman Moshe Bogy Ya'alon that Eisenkot would be number 2 in his party.
Chat or phone: Why don't 'Maccabi' members have to run to the emergency room for everything?
Those close to Eisenkot told Channel 12 that he was surprised by the comments and had not even decided whether he would run in the elections.
""I didn't tell anyone anything about my political steps, certainly not at the level of summaries," he told his associates.
It seems that Eisenkot took Ya'alon's words with great surprise, to say the least. In conversations with his associates, he denied the report.
""There has never been and there will never be, I haven't decided yet whether I will run at all, and if so, it's not clear in which political framework, existing or independent," he said. "Ya'alon's words surprised me.".
The former Chief of Staff added that he did not speak to anyone about his political steps, and certainly did not agree with politicians about running together.
According to the insiders, he has met with everyone recently, but they say that if the attempts to make headlines out of every such meeting continue, Eisenkot will consider whether to continue them. "First they will choose a date for the elections and then we will see," the insiders said.
MK Ya'alon's office, in coordination with Gadi Eisenkot, stated: "Ya'alon and Eisenkot have a long-standing relationship and a close relationship of trust. The things attributed to Eisenkot's associates tonight were not said by him.".
