After a combative speech by Benny Gantz and a statement by Benjamin Netanyahu, the Knesset plenum approved the bill this evening (Monday) that postpones the deadline for approving the state budget by 120 days, preventing the dissolution of the Knesset.

The law was voted in favor by 67 people, with 37 against.

The Prime Minister told reporters in the Knesset: "I decided how to pass the resolution that we will pass now to ensure that there will be no elections, because this is important for the future and present of the State of Israel.

""It's very difficult to do this when the prime minister is being attacked from within the government. I don't remember speaking of Benny Gantz in such terms since the government was formed. I don't hear once that the incessant attacks on me and the Likud from within the government are being stopped. But I think what's needed now is to join hands in facing our challenges and tasks.".

""This is what I have been doing all my life for our country despite constant attacks from the media and political opponents, including from within the government. I think now we need to do what is important for the citizens of Israel and the State of Israel.".

In a plenary debate, MK Bezalel Smotrich said: "Gantz and Netanyahu are playing with the State of Israel, its economy, its citizens, its children's education, its health, its welfare and its bank account, in the midst of an unprecedented economic and health crisis in the State of Israel. They are unable to rise above their petty quarrels even for the bare minimum of a state budget. The state cannot operate normally without an organized budget and certainly, certainly, it cannot operate during a period of economic crisis without certainty and stability.""

MK Oded Forer: "With not much sadness and not gloomy grief, I announce that the 35th Israeli government has passed away. The death certificate has already been written, but the date has not yet been signed. The sadness is not terrible and the grief is not gloomy because since the government was established, I have always thought that this government cannot reach lower levels, and time after time I discover that Netanyahu, Gantz, Litzman, Gafni and Deri manage to lower the Israeli public even lower.".

""You stand before the Israeli public and wage fierce battles ostensibly over issues that are of global importance, but in reality you are fighting for one thing, your personal survival.""
