Lieberman to Bibi: "Don't give me grades" • Lapid: "Ministers are raging like talkbackists""

The chairman of the Yesh Atid party, Finance Minister Yair Lapid, addressed the recent events this morning at the start of the government meeting:

""First of all, Hamas needs to know that we will not pass over the firing in the south in silence. The full power of the IDF and the full power of the State of Israel will be activated if calm is not restored to the south. This is unbearable and we will not tolerate it.".

Regarding what is happening within the borders of the State of Israel, I spoke this morning with the mayors of Baqa al-Gharbia and Qalanswa. We need to restore calm and implement the law.

At the same time, the government cannot conduct itself or rant like a talkbackist, and government ministers should not rant and talk like talkbackists. We need to lower the flames, not increase the flames, and we need to not fan the flames, but put out the fire.

""And therefore what needs to be done now is to let the law take its course, to come together and talk and not let extremists, neither Jewish nor Arab, run the State of Israel, but rather let the government and the security forces handle what is happening right now.".

ראש הממשלה בנימין נתניהו אמר בפתח ישיבת הממשלה: "אנחנו פועלים מול כמה חזיתות בעת ובעונה אחת. הלילה פעלנו נגד מטרות רבות של חמאס בעזה, והיעד של כל הפעולות שלנו הוא החזרת השקט והביטחון לכל אזרחי ישראל, ובראשם לתושבי הדרום". "הניסיון מוכיח שברגעים כאלה יש לנהוג בקור רוח ובאחריות ולא בהתלהמות ובפזיזות. אנחנו נעשה כל מה שנדרש כדי להשיב את השקט והביטחון לדרום". עוד אמר ראש הממשלה: "בסוף השבוע אנחנו גם פעלנו בנחישות נגד ההתפרעויות בירושלים וביישובים ערביים. אנחנו נוקטים יד קשה מול פורעי חוק ומול מסיתים מכל צד שהוא. אין מקום במדינת ישראל ליידוי אבנים על שוטרים, אין מקום לזריקת בקבוקי תבערה, אין מקום לחסימת צירים או השמדת רכוש, אין מקום להסתות נגד עצם קיומה של מדינת ישראל. "אי אפשר לאחוז בחבל הזה משני קצותיו. אי אפשר ליהנות מתשלומי ביטוח לאומי וקצבאות ילדים מצד אחד - ומצד שני להפר את החוקים הבסיסיים ביותר של מדינת ישראל. אני קורא למנהיגי הציבור הערבי לגלות אחריות, להתייצב בפני גל ההתפרעויות כדי להחזיר את השקט על כנו. מי שלא יכבד את החוק - ייעצר וייענש בחומרה. "אני מבקש בהזדמנות הזאת בשם ממשלת ישראל לשלוח את הערכתי הרבה לשוטרים ולחיילים שעוסקים ללא לאות באבטחת ביטחונם של כל אזרחי ישראל". מי שלא אהב את דברי ראש הממשלה הוא שר החוץ אביגדור ליברמן, שאמר בטון תקיף לנתניהו: "אל תחלק לי ציונים על אמירותיי".
