Do you feel like you've become addicted to frequent smartphone use and 'scrolling' the screen with your fingers to see the new WhatsApp message you were viewing exactly a minute ago? This news is for you.

An Austrian designer named Clemens Schillinger created the "Alternative Phone," a series of objects that at first glance look almost like a smartphone - with the rectangular structure, rounded edges, and smooth black plastic screen that we're all used to.

The visible difference in all of his models is a row (or two) of white stone beads that are integrated into the simulated black screen.

The white beads simulate the action of intensive use of the mobile device, with the aim of weaning the addicts, or in other words - all of us.

Schillinger, quoted on the Haaretz website, said: "The smartphone with the touch screen allows one to 'escape' into social media.".

He referred to this well-known addiction and said: "We check emails and messages not only on public transportation but also in social situations, for example when we sit down for a drink with friends. The need to check the phone is becoming more and more frequent, even if you are not expecting a specific message or a call.".

Schillinger created another gadget that fights addiction: a nightlight that only works when you give up your phone and put it in a small drawer at its base.

Will it work or will a new addiction to Schillinger's fake phones also arise?
