If you're also tired of slow drivers in the left lane blocking the fast lane, you might be interested in the following bill. In the state of Georgia in the United States, a bill has been introduced that has been dubbed "slow-poke" (literally translated as "slow-poke"), according to which drivers in the left lane would be subject to criminal charges, a $1,000 fine, and twelve months in prison.

The initiator of the law Bill Hitchens, a former police officer, explained to a local Atlanta news website: "The bill is more of an educational and deterrent act for drivers who don't understand that they're not supposed to be driving 55-60 miles per hour (90-95 kilometers per hour) in the left lane with a line of 15-17 drivers trailing behind them." Hitchens added that he doesn't want drivers to break the law and drive faster than the speed limit, but only that those who can't keep up will pull over to the left lane. It should be noted that the speed limit on Virginia roads is 70 miles per hour (112 kilometers per hour).

And what are the chances of the bill? So far, it seems to be moving in the right direction: 169 supporters to just 9 opponents in the local House of Representatives in Atlanta. However, the bill needs the governor's approval, and he can only approve it after it has been accepted by the Georgia Senate.
