In the two years since the attack, members of the French community have been trying to commemorate Rabbi Sendler and his sons who were murdered in every possible way. About a year ago, the community received shelter from the municipality on a street in the city, where they plan to build a synagogue. Sendler's widow, Eva, who remained to live near Paris, has close ties with the French community in Jerusalem, and is actively involved in promoting the construction of a synagogue in the name of her late husband and children.

The rabbi's aunt, Leah Marko, donated a playground in Jerusalem and said: "I wanted to hear children say, 'I want to go play with Yonatan or with Aryeh or with Gabriel or with all three of them.' For this purpose, I approached the Jerusalem Municipality's Parks Department, which adopted the project," she said.

This week, the playground was inaugurated in a modest ceremony, which was honored with the presence of Shmuel Sandler, the late father of Jonathan. Sandler said, as mentioned, that he may move to Jerusalem, together with his daughter.

The ceremony was also attended by Eva Sendler, who arrived at the scene with her young daughter, who was born shortly after the attack. The widow refused to speak to reporters and only asked the mayor to promote the synagogue built to commemorate her family members. In addition to the family members who arrived, the ceremony was also attended by Mayor Nir Barkat and French Ambassador to Israel Patrick Mazinau. In connection with the remarks, the ambassador made it clear that President Hollande plans to fight any manifestation of anti-Semitism in his country.
