The Anonymous organization is threatening to organize a cyberattack tomorrow - April 7th, under the code name OPISRAEL (short for "Opposition to Israel").
The organization has traditionally organized, for the past 4 years, attacks on Israeli government and private websites.
The attack is mainly symbolic, and is intended to create pressure on the Israeli public, although for the most part the event amounts to a temporary outage of several Israeli websites and government portals. In recent hours, a list has emerged containing the details of dozens of Israeli credit cards.
Last year, the announcer said in a video that preceded the attack: "This is a message to the foolish Zionist entities, we are coming to punish you again for your crimes against the Palestinian territories.
""We will take down your Internet servers, government websites, websites of the Israeli army, banks and public institutions. We will erase you from cyberspace as we do every year.".
He calls the event nothing less than a "digital holocaust," referring to the fact that this year the attack will also be directed at smartphones and tablets.
Il-Cert (the Information Security Incident Coordination Center) told the Mako website: "The attackers have made some changes to their organization and new tools are expected to be used, but not ones that present a new risk. This is an operation whose main effect is awareness - and as in previous years, we are prepared to deal with it. Our help center will begin operating tomorrow and will assist any user or business that fears being harmed, encounters an attack, or has been attacked.".
