Bad news for parents who traveled to celebrate in Meron: This evening at 7:00 PM, a two-year-old toddler, from an ultra-Orthodox family, was brought to the clinic in the town of Yavneel, unconscious, after drowning in a pool in a private home. MDA Jordan Region medics and paramedics, who were called to the clinic, performed CPR on the toddler, and after his pulse returned, he was taken in serious condition to Poriya Hospital in Tiberias, where doctors managed to restore his pulse and blood pressure. He was then taken by helicopter to the intensive care unit at Rambam Hospital in Haifa.
Apparently, he suffered brain damage due to prolonged lack of oxygen. The Feda Poriya Medical Center said: "The toddler arrived on a ventilator in very serious condition, and we continued our efforts to stabilize him. He suffered damage due to a prolonged lack of oxygen.".
MDA paramedic Avi Ben Hamo said: "This is a two-year-old toddler who was brought to a medical facility in the town unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, after apparently drowning in a pool. Together with a local doctor, we began performing CPR on him. Within a few minutes, additional paramedics and an MDA intensive care unit arrived at the scene and continued advanced CPR, which included ventilation, massages, and medication. After the toddler's pulse returned and his condition stabilized somewhat, we evacuated him in serious condition to Poriya Hospital.".
The Northern District Police Department informed Haredim10 that the case involved a two-year-old toddler who drowned in a pool in a private home, and that the circumstances of the case are being investigated.
Initial investigation indicates that the toddler was under the care of a 15-year-old girl who was acting as his babysitter, after his parents traveled to attend the Rashbi's celebration in Meron. At some point, the toddler got away from the babysitter, reached the pool and drowned.
His name for the prayer: Menachem Zeev ben Tamir for complete recovery.
