A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured and evacuated by helicopter to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, after being injured in a serious car accident at the Meron Junction. His condition is described as serious and he is unconscious and in a state of collapse.

A 14-year-old boy from Sderot, whose family came to stay in the Meron area for the Lag BaOmer festivities, was seriously injured tonight in a car accident at the Meron intersection, when he was hit by a passing vehicle.

The boy was injured after midnight, when he was crossing Highway 89 on foot near the Meron Intersection.

Volunteer paramedics from United Hatzalah from the Galilee branch and the Meron team, who quickly arrived at the scene, provided the injured man with life-saving medical treatment, although his condition was serious and he was unconscious with multiple systemic injuries.

The boy was taken by MDA helicopter to Rambam Hospital in Haifa, where he was hospitalized in serious condition.

The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.

Moshe Levy, a United Hatzalah paramedic, said: "When I arrived at the scene, I encountered a child who was unconscious, after he had been hit in the head by a car while crossing the road. His family said that they had come from the south of the country to stay in Meron for Lag BaOmer. I and other paramedics provided him with initial medical treatment at the scene, and then he was evacuated by MDA helicopter to Rambam Hospital in Haifa, in serious condition and suffering from multiple systemic injuries.".
