Benjamin Donner, a Breslov Hasid, resident of Yavne'el, 54 years old, was bitten this evening (Tuesday) by a viper at the Salukia spring, about two kilometers east of the Katzrin junction.
Magen David Adom medics and paramedics provided him with medical treatment and evacuated him to Ziv Hospital in Safed in serious condition, but conscious.
Donner - whose son drowned in a pool several years ago and survived - was transferred from the emergency room to intensive care. He is currently in stable condition and is responding well to the serum.
MDA paramedic Moshe Mor Yosef said: "The man was on a trip with his family, in the Salukia Stream, when they encountered a viper. When the team found him, he already had pain and swelling in his hand. His condition deteriorated afterwards and his blood pressure dropped. He was sweating and vomiting, and these are clear signs of a snakebite. We gave him advanced treatment, while taking him by ambulance to the hospital in Safed for intensive care.".
""The family was on a trip when Dad picked up a branch from the floor and was bitten by a large snake," says his daughter. "His condition has stabilized and, thank God, he is speaking. The doctors say that in the coming days he will be out of danger. Dad studies in the kollel in Yavne'el all day, the avrechim have been informed and are praying for his well-being.".
"My message: Be very careful when lifting objects, especially in places like nature. Pray for my father, Binyamin ben Ilana, for a complete recovery among all the other sick people of his people Israel.".
