Video in the Dark Fund: The Intel Capital Fund will invest tens of millions of dollars in the Israeli company OrCam, which is developing a device that includes a tiny video camera that can be mounted on glasses. The innovative device will allow the user to decode texts encountered such as street signs, products in the grocery store or a restaurant menu, identify the color of the light at a traffic light, and even distinguish between bills.

Who is the new device intended for?

In general, Intel says, the device is aimed at those who suffer from vision impairments that cannot be corrected by optical means, but who maintain a certain level of vision, but the blind can also use it.

In an attempt to outdo the Google Glass with its display screen, these glasses will operate continuously and require a battery attached to the processing unit that will be placed in a pocket. The device includes a database that allows the identification of hundreds of commercial brands and examples of relevant objects in the target countries, such as banknotes and public transportation.
