New York police have arrested a man on suspicion of throwing a Molotov cocktail into a store in the Borough Park neighborhood. The fire consumed a large part of the premises. An employee was injured in the fire that broke out at the scene - his condition is described as good.
Police said Charles Diaz, a 35-year-old Brooklyn resident, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder, assault, arson and illegal possession of a weapon.
The attack occurred near 2 a.m. on Tuesday night at the "24" minimarket on Fort Hamilton Avenue.
It was reported that the suspect argued with the store employee, and about an hour later stood outside the store and threw the Molotov cocktail inside.
The bottle exploded in the center of the store and the employee's hair and coat caught fire.
His coworker took control of the fire and put out the flames with water.
